About Us

Meetings of the Wisconsin Orchid Society (WOS) are usually held on the first Sunday of every month. See Meetings for specific details.

The room is available at 1:00 p.m. and plant judging starts at 1:30 p.m. Ribbon judging of plants is held at nearly every meeting. The business meeting begins at 2:00 p.m. and is followed by the program, usually a guest speaker or presentation on some aspect of orchids. The meeting concludes with refreshments and general socializing.

Our membership is drawn from Southeastern Wisconsin, from Sheboygan to Madison. Members range in age from teenagers to "I'll bet you can't guess how old I am!"

Orchids are the most fascinating group of plants, with flowers ranging in size from microscopic to the size of a dinner plate. Their colors range from dull to extravagent, and their fragrance ranges from "a herd of dead elephants" to sublimely exquisite (it all depends on your nose).

Now that orchids are more readily available, it is helpful to know how to keep them alive and help them thrive. With the proper care, they will surprise and delight you for many years.
